About Us

The Slayton Public Library was organized in 1940 by the Slayton Monday Study Club and was housed in two different locations before moving to its present location on Slayton’s main street. The library is a member of the Plum Creek Library System, a nine county, 26 member Federated Library System.

In addition to more than 35, 000 volumes, the Slayton Library has a collection of over 700 DVD’s that can be checked out for a 1 week period. The library also houses subscriptions to 25 magazines and 4 local and state newspapers, as well as more than 850 audio books. Adult patrons may check out the 3 hotspots and 2 Chromebooks on a first come first serve basis. Patrons have access to ebooks and audio books through the Libby app on their personal devices using their library account.

We also provide services for printing, copying and faxing. Families are encouraged to utilize the large children’s area with a variety of educational and imaginative toys such as the grocery store, diner and activity table with revolving manipulative toy sets.

The library offers a variety of adult and children’s community programs throughout the year including music, history and literature.
